Activities of 2016/2017

Oh my, oh my, am I behind!

The year of 2016/2017 was an exciting one. The younger children learned about American History and the high schoolers took classes in Economics and American Government--it was an election year after all.

Field trips included visiting David Hall Cabin in Claxton, TN, as well as the Lincoln Memorial University Museum in Harrogate and even the East Tennessee Historical Museum in Knoxville. The Nina and the Pinta even came back to town during this time of learning about history. The high schoolers also took a special trip to the voting office. Boy, was that fun.

Lots of fun and education happened on these trips!

Of course we had parties throughout the year. We had a delicious Thanksgiving celebration complete with turkey and ham. Then there was Christmas with a sock exchange. We didn't have a wall of socks, but we had them flying around the room during our game. No one wanted to give up the pretty ones!

One of the other big events we participated in was the end of the year party. We always have some big shindig, but this year we went all out. We created our own pioneer town! We had a general store, a sweet shoppe, a restaurant and much more.
